HIV is no longer a death sentence, thanks to medical advancements. Our perceptions and ideas about the disease have not progressed much beyond the images of when HIV first appeared in 1980.
Why?
Scary and provocative images make front-page headlines, but not medical advancement. Education focuses on prevention and how you can get it, but not how you can’t get it Not a top-of-of mind topic for general discussion.
It will never be clearer that Singapore needs to do better at HIV social acceptance.
HPB and partners want Singaporeans to rethink HIV and together we launch a destigmatisation campaign in works places called “Spread the Facts”. The campaign helps to reduce stigmatisation of HIV by enhancing understanding of how HIV spreads, and by encouraging acceptance of PLHIV.

TAKING IT A STEP FURTHER TO GENERATE BUZZ…
What if we used ink mixed with drops of HIV-positive blood to educate the public that HIV cannot be spread through dried blood, while showing how we can co-exist normally with people living with HIV?
